STUDIO TOOL
Media OS
The pipeline our video, stills and print
pages
come out of. A production is a
folder holding
a brief, its sources and
its specs. Media OS
made our six Contra
covers and a film with its
making-of cut.

What it does
01
Sources recorded
as they arriveIntake copies each file into the
production and writes a sidecar
beside
it with its sha256, its
license line and
where it came from.02
A spec for
each engineBlender reads a .scene.json
headless,
a .layout.json becomes
ExtendScript for
Illustrator or
InDesign, and a .cartoon.json
becomes an After Effects project.03
Measured on
the way outThe render stage measures each
mix by
EBU R128, and the cartoon
tool counts
the frames a render
holds and refuses
a short file.04
Approved

only
after packaging, by the packaged
file's
own hash, and the package
folder
carries a SHA256SUMS list.
Three productions,
one frame each
The middle frame comes from the making-of
cut of a film made for a client we invented.
ILLUSTRATION
Two printed cards in window light, drawn here;
the cover
itself is a Cycles render placed on its
4:3 page
by Illustrator.
FRAME
A frame-by-frame scan from the making-of
cut: two stray frames in the stabilized pass,
none in the clean window the cut uses.
FRAME
The Way Out, movement one: After Effects
reveals a painted cave plate under a moving
flashlight beam.
