Proof of the standard
One project that shows what that looks like: a full-stack rebuild for Mending Indigenous Spirits, a Sonoma nonprofit. I took it on pro bono and held it to the same exacting standards as my paid work. Restraint, structure, and discretion don’t depend on the size of a budget. Between client work, I build my own tools to keep the craft sharp.
From the founder
I wrote my first program on a TRS-80 Color Computer 2 when I was eight, typing it line by line out of a book. Typing it in was quick. Getting it to actually run was the work: hunting down my typos, and finding the calls pointing at the wrong line numbers so the program ran, just not the way it should have.
Some of it was my mistakes. Some of it was the book being wrong. Either way, the code didn’t care what I meant. It only did what I told it. Forty-odd years later, that’s still the job.
I made my living in the trades first. My father was a plumber, San Francisco born and bred, and so was I. I put in years on underground construction with the Laborers Union, then worked as a service technician troubleshooting water supply and gas systems. Eventually I was designing systems, building bids, and running complex jobs. I was the person in the trench making the call when something went sideways and it was going to cost real money either way.
That’s not a detour from what I do now. It’s the reason I do it the way I do.
Software people talk about shipping. I came up in work that had to hold pressure, where a bad decision didn’t throw an error message; it flooded a building. I build the same way I ran a job: understand the whole system before touching it, plan for what fails, and stand behind the result. Along the way I put in the coursework in graphic and web design too, but the discipline came from the field long before it came from a classroom.
So when I architect a build, I’m not guessing. I’m doing the thing I’ve done since 1984: reading a system, finding where it breaks, and making it hold.
Different material. Same standard.
Sixteen years married. Two daughters and a son. Still finding the mistakes, still fixing them, still making it run.
What I Value
Honesty
No upselling. No fluff.
Craftsmanship
Every detail matters.
Respect
For the user, the client, and the community.
Restraint
Clean, considered, editorial design.
Function
A beautiful site is useless if it doesn't work.
How It Works
A clear path, start to launch.
Start a conversation
A short intake tells me what you're building. I'll have an honest conversation about fit and how I can partner on it.
A discovery made for your project
If it's a match, I build you a tailored discovery so the scope is right before a line of code.
Everything in one place
You review the plan, timeline, and investment in your own dashboard. No mystery, no scattered email threads.
Built in the open
Design and development with progress visible to you the whole way. When I launch, the dashboard stays yours.
